Weather forecast for Mauritius: 6th and 7th May, Tuesday and Wednesday

The weather in early May promises many showers in most parts of the country, although temperatures will remain pleasantly warm. In the morning, there may be some sunny hours in the north and west, but in the afternoon we can expect showers and cloudy, humid weather in many places. The highest daytime temperature will be around 29–30 °C, dropping to 23–25 °C at night. In the first half of the summer semester, moving fronts will reach the island, so the southeast trade wind (SSE) will blow with above-average strength, which may cause scattered showers. The humidity will be high, but the light coastal breeze will somewhat alleviate the heat and stuffiness. 11-12 hours of sunlight are expected during the day.

North Coast (Grand Baie, Pereybere)
The morning in the coastal area will start with relatively sunny, clear weather, with clouds gathering only in the afternoon. The temperature will peak around 28–29 °C, cooling down to around 23 °C at night. The wind will blow moderately from the northeast (ENE), which will keep the air fresh. The weather will remain mostly dry, but small showers may occur in the second half of the day. Overall, lively but friendly weather is expected in the famous beach resorts, ideal for leisure activities.

North West Coast (Mont Choisy, Trou aux Biches)
The undisturbed, humid weather will continue around Mont Choisy and Trou aux Biches. We can spend most of the day under partly cloudy skies, with only occasional rain likely. The daily maximum temperature here will also be 29–30 °C, and the air will cool down to around 24 °C at night. The pleasant weather is enhanced by the coastal breeze, so there will still be good conditions for beaching and water sports. The sunset will also be beautiful, with clear visibility near the coast.

Port Louis and surroundings
The morning around the capital is still relatively sunny, with clouds thickening mainly in the afternoon. According to Meteo and foreign forecasts, there may be scattered showers in the afternoon – especially towards the suburbs and mountainous areas. The maximum temperature will be around 30 °C, but the humidity is high, so the heat will feel strong (RealFeel can reach 34 °C). The wind will blow from the southeast (SSE) with changes in direction to the north, its speed will fluctuate between 15–25 km/h. By evening, the showers will move away, the clouds will thin out, and the weather will cool down to around 24–25 °C. Overall, we can expect changeable but warm weather in the Port Louis area, with sunny and cloudy periods occurring almost every hour.

West Coast (Flic en Flac, Tamarin)
Fresh coastal air will arrive along the west coast (Flic en Flac, Tamarin), but showers may also develop here in the afternoon. In the humid, cumulus-cloudy weather, the temperature will rise to 28–29 °C during sunny periods. The breeze coming from the sea will alleviate the heat, but at the same time it will whip up characteristic waves on the sea edge. From early afternoon, the clouds will strengthen and running showers may develop – especially over the waters not far from the coast. By the evening, the sun will shine again, and the minimum temperature will drop to around 24–25 °C. Balanced weather, suitable for excursions and water activities, is expected on these coastal sections on Tuesday.

Southwest Coast (Le Morne)
More or less sunshine is also expected around Le Morne, with showers mainly limited to the hilly hinterland. The weather here may remain a little drier, with only a few scattered showers casting a shadow over the sunny weather. The maximum temperature on the coast will also be 28-29 °C, remaining around 24 °C at night. The cancelled waves will resemble a northerly (N) wind – this is a weaker, near-northern component of the southeast trade wind. Overall, the southwest coast will have favorable, sunny weather, with little chance of showers.

High tide (high water): 09:55 and 22:15; low tide (low water): 03:50 and 16:34 (local time)

Wednesday, May 7, 2025

The weather on May 7 will continue to be warm and humid, but we can expect repeated showers in the afternoon. The first half of the day will be mostly sunny between the clouds, but showers and thunderclouds may develop again in several places in the afternoon. The maximum air temperature will approach 30 °C, the night minimum will be around 23–24 °C. According to the forecast for the next day, “cloudy and humid weather is expected with sunny periods and occasional afternoon showers”accuweather.com. The wind will continue to blow mainly from the southeast, but will decrease by the evening. Overall, the local weather for Wednesday will be: warm, breezy day, with afternoon showers.

North Coast (Grand Baie, Pereybere)
On Wednesday, the morning will be relatively dry and sunny. However, there may be brief showers in the afternoon, especially when the cooler ocean air meets. Temperatures will be around 29–30 °C, with northeasterly winds. Temperatures will ease to around 23–24 °C in the evening. breeze. The friendly weather remains for most of the day, so the beaches in the area can also be visited pleasantly in the afternoon.

Northwest Coast (Mont Choisy, Trou aux Biches)
We also wake up to a fairly warm, humid day in the Mont Choisy area. The sunshine is often accompanied by veiled clouds during the morning, but the sky weakens further by late afternoon. A shower or two may occur anywhere in the closer coastal areas, but these will quickly disappear. The temperature remains between 29–30 °C, not dropping below 23–24 °C at night. The sea breeze on the northwest coast is refreshing, so the daytime heat does not become unbearable. Overall, this region is characterized by pleasant, summery weather even in the middle of the week.

Port Louis and surroundings
Wednesday will also bring a humid and cloudy day in the Port Louis area. In the morning, we can still enjoy sparkling sunshine, but by the afternoon the clouds will thicken again and showers may develop in several places. The probability of localized thunderstorms is moderate, but cannot be ruled out. The temperature in the city will continue to rise to 30–31 °C during the day. The wind will remain southeast, at a speed of 10–20 km/h, so it will be relatively refreshing despite the high humidity. In the evening, the temperature will drop to 24–25 °C. So, similarly windy, warm weather is expected in Port Louis as in the rest of the island, only with smaller differences in temperature and precipitation.

West Coast (Flic en Flac, Tamarin)
The west coast will see similar weather on the second day of the week. The mostly clear, sunny mornings will give way to showery periods again in the afternoon. Near the sea, the temperature will rise to 29–30 °C, with northwesterly winds. The clouds will thin out again in the evening, so the night will be pleasantly cool, 23–24 °C. The weather on Wednesday is also friendly here: ideal for sunbathing in the morning hours, swimming while the sun lasts, and then light showers may hit in the evening hours.

Southwest coast (Le Morne)
Drier, sunnier weather is also likely in the Le Morne region during the morning. However, showers may occur here in the afternoon, but these will only be temporary. The maximum temperature will again be around 29–30 °C, and the humidity will remain high. The coastal wind will decrease slightly (the NE component will strengthen), so the air will remain mobile with a high oxygen content. Overall, the southwest coast is also characterized by the changeable weather of May: it starts with sunshine, continues with running showers.

South coast (Bel Ombre)
On the south coast, in the Bel Ombre region, Wednesday morning will bring a lot of sunshine again. From early afternoon, clouds appear quickly and the humid air is conducive to rain. Showers from the higher mountains and hills may reach this stretch of coast first. The temperature barely rises above 29 °C, because cumulus clouds often cover the sun. The wind is southeasterly and cools the air to below 23 °C in the evening. On the southern coast, therefore, you should expect stronger winds and showers mainly in the second half of the day, which characterize the changeable weather here in the second week of the month.

South coast (Blue Bay, Mahebourg)
Wednesday will not bring any significant difference in the Blue Bay and Mahebourg areas: sunny weather is expected in the first half of the day, but local showers and thunderstorms will be frequent in the afternoon. Dry air passes through this stretch of coast less often, so the clouds remain, and a single heavy shower can fall for up to half an hour. The temperature will be between 28–29 °C, and will not drop below 24 °C. A southeasterly (ESE) wind will blow from the sea, which will mix the air well. The weather around Blue Bay will therefore be a little more rainy, but sunshine will alternate with clouds at this time.

East Coast (Belle Mare, Trou d’Eau Douce)
Turning east (Belle Mare, Trou d’Eau Douce), Wednesday will show more humid air coming from the tropical east. The morning will also be partly sunny, partly cloudy, but showers may develop more often during the afternoon. The high-humidity easterly trade winds keep the air warm (peaks at 29–30 °C), but since clouds often cover the sun, this will already keep the temperature down. On the eastern coast, the wind will remain southeasterly, which maintains the humid microclimate of the area. Thus, the weather on the eastern side promises to be more changeable, slightly more rainy, but still suitable for beach activities.

Sunrise: 06:28 Sunset: 17:44
High tide: approx. 10:40 (first) and 23:00 (second); low tide: approx. 04:45 (first) and 17:30 (second) – according to the local celestial position (shifted by about 4 hours compared to Tuesday).

Sea temperature: around 27–28 °C

Sea conditions: moderately choppy, with waves of 0.5–1.5 meters, sometimes larger waves may form due to the east wind.
