Where to stay in budget, medium or luxury-priced hotels in Le Morne – hotels Mauritius

In our series of articles, we’ll go through where to stay in hotels Mauritius and where to book in each area, starting with Le Morne.

Le Morne is one of Mauritius’ best-known places to stay. The mountain is beautiful all year round, its beaches are breathtaking, and the sunsets are unforgettable, but geographically it is the most southwestern corner of the island, so everything is far away (attractions, towns).

Riu Turquoise – budget category

The Riu Hotel opened this season (2024), so you can book it for a quite good price at the moment.

Positives:

  • Newly built hotel with a modern design.
  • Wide choice of restaurants: steakhouse, Indian restaurant, and buffet option.
  • 0-24 hours all-inclusive: a variety of food and drink options at all times.
  • Water sports: ideal for activities such as surfing or kitesurfing.
  • Beach and sunset: long beach, beautiful sunsets.
  • Has its cinema, kids’ club, spa, and gym.

Negatives:

  • Wind: disturbing, unfortunately built on one of the windiest spots on the island
  • The hotel has an adults-only section, the restaurants and other service areas are open to family holidaymakers, so the adults-only experience is not quite what you’d expect
  • Teenagers have few options

Lux Le Morne – medium category

Lux is a luxury hotel chain with several hotels in Mauritius.

Positives:

  • Coast: picture-postcard palm-fringed beach with a turquoise ocean
  • Wind: much calmer than the Riu’s beach, which faces west rather than south.
  • Restaurants: the hotel has 4 excellent restaurants (such as Beach, East Thai, and Kawaii Japanese); if requested, staff can even pack food for nearby tours.
  • Sunset: has a long beach and beautiful sunsets.
  • Activities: the hotel organizes diving and snorkeling activities or even dolphin dives.
  • Staff: the real deal, always smiling and helpful.
  • Has its own wellness center and kids’ club.

Negatives:

  • Distance: it’s far from the rest of the island, so if you want to go out for shopping or to other restaurants, you’ll have to take an expensive taxi or a slightly cheaper rental car.

Dinarobin Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa – luxury category

Dinarobin Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa is an elegant 5-star Mauritian resort, a paradise of peace and tranquility with its own golf course. The perfect location for a luxury holiday or honeymoon in Mauritius.

Positives:

  • Coast: picture-postcard palm-fringed beach with turquoise ocean
  • Sunset: long beach, beautiful sunsets
  • Wind: least windy part around Le Morne, with its own peninsula
  • Pools: the hotel has 5 heated pools, so they are pleasantly warm all year round
  • Restaurants: the hotel also has 4 excellent restaurants (such as Beach, East Thai, and Kawaii Japanese); if requested, staff can even pack food for nearby tours
  • Activities: the hotel can organise diving and snorkelling activities, or even dolphin dives
  • Staff: the real deal, always smiling and helpful
  • Has its own wellness centre, fitness centre, and kids’ club
  • Its own golf course

Negatives:

  • The only downside here is the distance.
