Today’s Weather – Mauritius and Surrounding Islands (Nov 9)

Mauritius wakes up to a bright and sunny Sunday morning, and skies remain mostly clear through the early hours. Some thin high-altitude clouds may drift across the island but will not bring any rain. Winds are light from the northeast, averaging around 6 km/h, and even lighter in the Le Morne area at just 2 km/h near the surface.

The morning will stay calm, but after 11 AM, clouds will begin to develop both locally and from the east. These clouds are expected to grow heavier during the afternoon, bringing showers and thunderstorms mainly over the Central Plateau and southern regions, particularly around Chemin Grenier, Surinam, Bel Ombre, Curepipe, Grand Bassin, and Quartier Militaire.
Rainfall totals could reach 40 to 80 mm, with a few thunderstorms possible in the southern parts of the island.

The sea remains calm today with wave heights between 0.8 and 1 meter along the west and north, and 1 to 1.3 meters along the east and south coasts.

Rodrigues Island

Rodrigues recorded no rainfall yesterday. This morning began with clear skies, and fair, sunny weather is expected to continue throughout the day with a northeasterly breeze around 20 km/h. Some afternoon clouds may bring brief light showers, with totals between 0.5 and 2 mm, but nothing significant. The sea remains calm with waves near 1.3 meters offshore.

Agalega Islands

Agalega may see heavy morning showers and isolated thunderstorms between 6:30 AM and noon, followed by gradual improvement in the afternoon. Winds will stay moderate, and visibility may briefly decrease during the downpours.
