Today’s weather across Mauritius looks pleasant and calm. After the passage of early morning cloud bands, the sky is clearing over much of the island. Some lingering clouds may remain over the Central Plateau for a short time, but conditions will improve steadily after sunrise. During the day, patches of clouds arriving from the southeast may bring temporary overcast skies, yet the risk of rain remains very low. If a shower does occur, it will likely affect the Rose Belle or Grand Bassin areas briefly before clearing again.
Winds are blowing from the east-southeast at around 24 km/h. Sea conditions are generally moderate, with waves of 1.2 meters along the western reefs, around 1.5 meters in the north, and up to 2 meters along the eastern and southern coasts outside the reef.
High tide: 2:09 AM and 2:01 PM
Low tide: 7:46 AM and 8:41 PM
Sunrise: 5:31 AM
Sunset: 6:16 PM

Rodrigues Island – Weather Outlook
Yesterday morning, Rodrigues recorded 3.9 mm of rainfall at Pointe Canon. For today, a few light clouds will move across the island, but overall, the weather will remain pleasant. If rain occurs within the next 24 hours, it will be light — between 1 and 4 mm. Offshore, waves are expected to reach 2.2 meters in height.
Agalega Islands and Regional Overview
The CHENGE tropical storm slightly strengthened yesterday before gradually weakening overnight. It has now downgraded to a remnant low-pressure system located north of Madagascar, moving west-northwest at 19 km/h. It no longer poses any direct threat to Mauritius or its surrounding islands.
Meanwhile, in the Caribbean, a new and extremely powerful tropical cyclone has formed near Jamaica, named MELISSA. The storm’s center is currently located near latitude 16.4° N and longitude 75.3° W, moving north at 10 km/h. MELISSA continues to intensify rapidly and is expected to become a very intense cyclone before striking Jamaica tomorrow evening. Meteorologists are warning of potentially catastrophic impacts in Kingston, with wind gusts exceeding 250 km/h and rainfall reaching 100 mm within just one hour — possibly making MELISSA the strongest cyclone in Jamaica’s recorded history.
Wishing everyone a safe and sunny Sunday across Mauritius and its islands!
