Pleasant yet variable weather is expected across Mauritius for the last days of July. The sun will make generous appearances between passing showers, and moderate to brisk southeasterly winds will dominate most regions. While the lagoons remain calm and inviting for swimmers, an active heavy swell warning remains in place, cautioning all visitors about rougher seas beyond the reef. Let us look in detail at the regional weather across Mauritius for Wednesday and Thursday.
Wednesday, July 30
North Coast (Grand Baie, Pereybere)
On Wednesday, the weather in the north will be partly sunny with scattered showers throughout the day. Daytime highs are expected to reach 25 degrees Celsius, while night-time temperatures will drop to around 19. The wind from the east may reach 35 kilometres per hour, stirring up some waves offshore. Swimmers should stay within the lagoons, where the sea will be calmer.
Northwest Coast (Mont Choisy, Trou aux Biches)
Similar weather will prevail in the northwest. Alternating clouds and sun will dominate, with occasional light rain. Daytime temperatures will hover around 25 degrees, and moderate winds may occasionally pick up. The sea within the lagoons remains calm and perfect for a swim or a relaxing beach walk.
Port Louis and Surroundings
Port Louis will experience a mix of sun and passing showers. Daytime temperatures will be slightly cooler, ranging from 22 to 25 degrees. The wind will blow steadily from the east, but not too strongly to disturb daily life in the capital and its harbour area.
West Coast (Flic en Flac, Tamarin)
Flic en Flac can expect longer sunny spells with occasional brief showers. Maximum temperatures will rise up to 26 degrees, while nights will be mild at 19 degrees. The southeasterly wind will reach up to 30 kilometres per hour. Beachgoers can enjoy pleasant conditions but should remain alert to shifting tides and moderate waves beyond the reef.
Southwest Coast (Le Morne)
Le Morne will see more cloud cover and passing rain showers, especially in the morning. Temperatures will stay between 22 and 25 degrees, while winds from the southeast could become quite strong, up to 40 kilometres per hour. These conditions are great for surfers and kite surfers, but swimmers should take extra care.
South Coast (Bel Ombre)

South Coast (Blue Bay, Mahebourg)
In Blue Bay, expect a blend of sunny intervals and occasional rain. Daytime highs will reach 25 degrees, and southeasterly winds will stay in the moderate range. The lagoon remains calm and perfect for swimming or snorkelling, although waves may pick up outside the barrier reef.
East Coast (Belle Mare, Trou d’Eau Douce)
More cloud cover and showers are expected on the east coast. Temperatures will peak around 25 degrees, while overnight lows drop to 19. Winds from the east-southeast could be brisk. The reef will protect swimmers close to shore, but waves will be more active further out at sea.

Caution is strongly advised for anyone planning sea activities or boat excursions outside the lagoon during this period.
The weather in Mauritius during July 30 and 31 will be mixed but generally enjoyable. Sunshine, mild temperatures and passing showers will create a dynamic yet pleasant atmosphere. The wind will be more noticeable in the southern and southwestern parts of the island, where water sports may be favoured.
