The weather in Mauritius will be changeable in the first days of July. After temporary showers on Monday, drier and sunnier periods will characterize most regions on Tuesday. The southeast trade wind will still be dominant, but only moderately strong, with gusts of up to 35 kilometers per hour. Waves of 3-4 meters outside the reefs should be expected, but the water in the lagoons will remain calm. On Wednesday, clouds will appear again, the wind will increase significantly, but only scattered light rain may occur. The daytime temperature will be between 24 and 26 degrees, and the nighttime cooling on the plateau may drop to 12 degrees. Let’s take a detailed look at the expected weather by region.

Tuesday, July 1
North Coast (Grand Baie, Pereybere)
A beautiful start to the day with clear skies and no rain in sight. The weather remains stable and sunny throughout the day, with a high of 28°C. Light southeasterly breezes around 18 km/h enhance the comfort level along the beach. The lagoon stays calm, perfect for kayaking or a relaxed swim.
Northwest Coast (Mont Choisy, Trou aux Biches)
Morning humidity gives way to sun-drenched skies by mid-morning. With temperatures peaking around 28°C, the weather is ideal for lounging or water activities. Winds remain mild and the sea conditions are excellent inside the reef.
Port Louis and Central Plateau
The highlands may receive a light shower between 7 and 9 a.m., but most of the day will be dry with some intermittent clouds. Port Louis will warm up to around 27°C, while the central plateau will stay cooler at about 23°C. Winds could gust up to 35 km/h, making it feel fresher in shaded areas.
West Coast (Flic en Flac, Tamarin)
Perfect beach weather continues with uninterrupted sunshine and a high of 28°C. Light winds around 10 km/h and crystal-clear lagoon water make this area a top choice for the day. The weather here is particularly suitable for divers and sunseekers.
Southwest Coast (Le Morne)
Expect a partly cloudy morning followed by more sunshine in the afternoon. Wind speeds reach up to 30 km/h with occasional gusts of 45 km/h. The sea beyond the reef remains active with 2 to 3-meter waves, making it ideal for experienced kite surfers.
South Coast (Bel Ombre)
A dry and partially cloudy morning transitions to sunny spells by afternoon. Temperatures reach up to 26°C, and the lagoon remains peaceful. However, the outer reef is choppy, so open-sea ventures should be cautious.
Southeast Coast (Blue Bay, Mahebourg)
Cloudy skies in the early morning may bring a quick shower before 9 a.m., followed by clearing conditions and sunshine. With temperatures around 27°C and gusty winds of 30–35 km/h, the weather remains pleasant for most outdoor activities.
East Coast (Belle Mare, Trou d’Eau Douce)
Brief morning showers are likely, but sunny intervals dominate by noon. Winds at 35 km/h and temperatures around 26°C define the day. The outer reef remains turbulent with 3-meter swells, but inside the lagoon, the water is calm and inviting.

Wednesday, July 2
The weather in Mauritius is about to take a sharp turn on Wednesday, July 2. Following the passage of a frontal system late Tuesday evening, a powerful anticyclone is sweeping across the island. This will bring strong to gale-force winds and very rough sea conditions. While no heavy rain is expected, the dangerous combination of wind and high waves will impact all coastal regions. If you’re planning any activities on the water, it’s best to cancel or reschedule. Here’s the detailed regional weather outlook for Mauritius:
North Coast (Grand Baie, Pereybere)
The morning will start relatively calm, but winds will quickly intensify throughout the day. Wind gusts may reach up to 70 km/h by the afternoon. The weather remains dry, with temperatures peaking at 28°C. However, the strong southeast winds will reduce the comfort level along the beaches, and even inside the lagoons, choppy waters are expected.
Northwest Coast (Mont Choisy, Trou aux Biches)
Clouds will increase during the day, but no rainfall is forecasted. The main concern here is the strengthening wind, which could exceed 70 km/h in the afternoon. The weather remains warm, but the breeze may make it feel cooler, especially in exposed areas.
Port Louis and Central Plateau
A brisk start to the day with sustained wind speeds of 50–60 km/h, increasing to gusts of 85–90 km/h over the central highlands. While the weather remains mostly dry, a light shower is possible in the early morning. Daytime highs will be around 26°C in Port Louis and 23°C in the plateau areas.
West Coast (Flic en Flac, Tamarin)
The west will be somewhat sheltered from the strongest winds, but still expect gusts up to 50 km/h. Although the weather is sunny and dry, beachgoers should be cautious, as swells may reach 2 meters even in normally calm areas. The sea conditions will deteriorate through the afternoon.
Southwest Coast (Le Morne)
This area will be heavily impacted by the changing weather. Winds will reach 85 to 90 km/h by midday. Sea conditions will be extremely dangerous with waves of 4 to 5 meters beyond the reefs. All water sports, including kite surfing and boating, are strongly discouraged.
South Coast (Bel Ombre)
Windy conditions will dominate the day, with sustained winds of 70 km/h and stronger gusts expected. The weather stays dry, but sea activity becomes dangerous. The outer reefs will experience 4 to 5 meter waves, making all marine activities unsafe.
Southeast Coast (Blue Bay, Mahebourg)
This will be one of the windiest areas on Wednesday. Winds will regularly exceed 80 km/h, with gusts possibly reaching 90 km/h. Although the weather remains rain-free, the sea will be violent even inside the lagoons. Swimming and snorkeling should be avoided.
East Coast (Belle Mare, Trou d’Eau Douce)
Strong southeast winds will make the weather in this region rough and uncomfortable. While no rainfall is expected, waves beyond the reef may reach 5 meters. The wind will whip through beach areas at over 80 km/h, posing risks for both locals and tourists.
Sunrise: 06:40 • Sunset: 17:52
High tide: 04:46 and 17:29 • Low tide: 11:18 and 00:09
The weather in Mauritius on Wednesday, July 2, will be dominated by a powerful anticyclone bringing very strong winds and hazardous sea conditions. While the skies remain mostly dry, the wind poses serious risks, particularly for coastal and maritime activities. Winds will peak between 85 and 90 km/h in several regions, especially over the highlands and along the southern and eastern coasts. Wave heights beyond the reefs will range between 4 and 5 meters, and the entire lagoon system may also be affected by increased turbulence. All travelers and residents are advised to follow updates from the Mauritius Meteorological Services and avoid venturing into open waters.
