Mauritius weather

Weather forecast for Mauritius: 18th and 19th June, Wednesday and Thursday

The weather in Mauritius for midweek remains consistent with the island’s tropical winter patterns. Southeasterly trade winds continue to dominate, bringing fresh breezes, particularly to the eastern and southern coastlines. Scattered clouds and isolated showers are expected in the early morning and late afternoon, especially over the central plateau and windward areas. However, the northern and western regions will enjoy more settled conditions, with long periods of sunshine, calmer seas, and lighter winds. Temperatures remain mild and pleasant throughout, with daily highs ranging between 26–28 °C and overnight lows around 19–21 °C. While the sea within lagoons stays calm and swimmable, wave heights beyond the reefs may reach up to 3 meters due to the sustained wind.

Let’s take a closer look at what to expect across the island.

Wednesday, June 18

North Coast (Grand Baie, Pereybere)
Morning clouds will quickly break apart, giving way to extended sunny intervals. Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 27 °C, and winds will blow from the southeast at 25–30 km/h. The weather in Mauritius on the north coast will be particularly favorable for outdoor activities. The lagoon waters are calm, perfect for swimming or paddleboarding.

Northwest Coast (Mont Choisy, Trou aux Biches)
Mostly sunny skies will prevail here too, with only a slim chance of a light shower. Sea conditions are excellent, with very low wave action. The air will feel fresh but warm enough to enjoy the beach throughout the day.

Port Louis and Central Plateau
In the capital and surrounding highland regions, the day starts bright, though clouds will build gradually. Short-lived showers are possible in the afternoon over the central plateau. Temperatures in Port Louis will hover around 27 °C, while it may be slightly cooler in higher elevations. The breeze will reach up to 30 km/h.

West Coast (Flic en Flac, Tamarin)
Sheltered from the stronger trade winds, the west coast will experience mild and sunny conditions with minimal wind disturbance. The temperature is forecast to hit 28 °C, and the ocean remains tranquil within the reef. This is a prime location to enjoy the weather in Mauritius midweek.

Southwest Coast (Le Morne)
This area is windier due to its exposure to funneling southeast trade winds. Expect gusts up to 40 km/h along the shoreline and possibly stronger over the hills. Wave heights beyond the reef may reach 2.5 to 3 meters, making conditions ideal for advanced water sports enthusiasts. Air temperatures will reach around 26 °C.

South Coast (Bel Ombre)
Early morning drizzle may occur, followed by clearing skies into the afternoon. Wind remains strong, averaging 30–35 km/h, and seas are rough outside the reef. Bathing is safe only within sheltered lagoon areas.

Southeast Coast (Blue Bay, Mahebourg)
Expect a grey start, followed by a gradual increase in sunshine as the day progresses. The sea surface temperature remains around 25.5 °C. Wind gusts can reach 40 km/h, but the inner lagoon provides relatively safe conditions for casual swimmers and snorkelers.

East Coast (Belle Mare, Trou d’Eau Douce)
This region experiences the strongest winds of the day, averaging 35–45 km/h. Passing morning showers are likely but brief, followed by brighter periods. Offshore wave activity may climb to 3 meters, so caution is advised for any open-sea activities.

Thursday, June 19

North Coast
Clear skies in the morning with just a few passing clouds. Winds will ease slightly, blowing at around 20 km/h, and daytime highs will remain near 27 °C. The beach is an excellent choice here, as the weather in Mauritius continues to favor the north.

Northwest Coast
Similar to the day before, sunny and calm conditions dominate. Sea conditions remain optimal, and the overall experience will be perfect for visitors looking to relax.

Port Louis and Central Plateau
Morning drizzle is possible in the highlands but will give way to dry, partly sunny skies by midday. Temperatures will hover around 26 °C, and winds will be less intense than on Wednesday, making for a pleasant day in the capital and surrounding regions.

West Coast
Unchanged from the previous day—this area remains one of the best bets for dry, sunny, and calm weather. Temperatures will again reach 28 °C, and ocean conditions are excellent.

Southwest Coast (Le Morne)
Wind speeds decline slightly, dropping to around 30–35 km/h, but wave action continues just strong enough for surfers and kiteboarders. Air temperatures remain comfortable around 26 °C, and the weather in Mauritius here continues to support active outdoor recreation.

South Coast (Bel Ombre)
A dry start to the day transitions into a higher chance of scattered showers after 3 PM. Sea conditions remain rough outside the reef, so swimming is safest in protected lagoons.

Southeast Coast (Blue Bay, Mahebourg)
Morning sunshine will likely be replaced by increasing clouds. Some light rain may develop later in the day. Winds remain brisk, but the lagoon continues to offer a safe and scenic swimming environment.

East Coast
Chances of afternoon rain rise slightly, and seas stay active with waves between 2.5 and 3 meters. Morning hours remain the best window for any outdoor or coastal activity.

Sunrise: 06:43 • Sunset: 17:37
High tide: 05:14 & 18:31 • Low tide: 11:42 & 23:38
