mauritius weather april

Weather forecast for Mauritius: 10th and 11th June, Tuesday and Wednesday

This week continues under the influence of a slow-moving, moisture-rich air mass sweeping in from the east. While Tuesday starts off fairly calm and partly sunny in most areas, a shift in conditions will arrive by late afternoon, bringing breezy trade winds and short, scattered showers — especially along the eastern, southern, and central regions. By Wednesday, stronger winds and more persistent cloud cover take hold, increasing the chance of rainfall and limiting marine activities. The weather remains highly variable from hour to hour, so day-by-day updates are essential.

Tuesday, June 10 – Breezy with passing showers

Tuesday’s weather will be mostly dry during the morning hours, but easterly winds strengthen throughout the day, ushering in more clouds and short-lived showers, especially by late afternoon. The lagoon remains relatively calm early on, but seas will gradually roughen by evening, particularly along exposed coasts.

North Coast (Grand Baie, Pereybère, Trou aux Biches)

Sunny spells dominate the morning, with clouds gradually building toward mid-afternoon. One or two brief showers may occur late in the day. Temperatures hold at a comfortable 26–27°C. Sea conditions remain calm inside the reef, making it a great day for snorkelling or sailing before 3 PM.

East Coast (Belle Mare, Flacq, Ile aux Cerfs)

Cloudier from the start, with occasional light showers during the late morning and again in the afternoon. Winds pick up speed — around 30–35 km/h — and the open ocean becomes choppy. Lagoon areas remain mostly safe but visibility could reduce after showers.

South Coast (Blue Bay, Mahebourg, Bel Ombre)

The day begins with a mix of sun and cloud. Light showers become more frequent after lunch. Conditions remain manageable inside the lagoon, though caution is advised near the reef breaks where wave height reaches 2–2.5 metres.

West Coast (Flic en Flac, Tamarin, Le Morne)

Still the most sheltered part of the island. Expect long periods of sunshine with only occasional late clouds. The weather here remains ideal for beachgoers and divers. Surf conditions stay mild, though wind gusts could increase near Le Morne.

Central Plateau (Curepipe, Vacoas)

Cooler and cloudier than coastal areas. Expect light drizzle developing in the afternoon, especially around Curepipe. Highs reach 23°C. Winds remain steady but could become gusty in exposed hilltop areas.

High Tides: 07:48 / 20:08
Low Tides: 01:56 / 14:24

Wednesday, June 11 – Stronger winds, frequent showers

Wednesday’s weather will be windier, cloudier, and wetter overall, especially across the eastern and central regions. A stronger trade-wind surge brings gusts of up to 40 km/h and a noticeable drop in perceived temperature, particularly in inland areas. Most regions will experience short showers during the day, with occasional sun breaking through in the west and north.

North Coast

Clouds increase earlier in the day, and passing rain is likely during the afternoon. Winds grow stronger but remain bearable. Sea conditions remain moderate inside the reef but turn rougher beyond. Temperatures stay around 25–26°C.

East Coast (Belle Mare, Trou d’Eau Douce)

This area faces the most active weather. Several rounds of brief but gusty showers can be expected throughout the day. Wind gusts reach 35–40 km/h, and the sea becomes rough outside lagoon boundaries. Offshore boating is not advised.

South Coast (Mahebourg, Bel Ombre)

Frequent light rain develops from mid-morning. Winds increase significantly, creating messy sea conditions even in some lagoon areas. Outdoor activities are still possible but should be planned with caution.

West Coast (Flic en Flac, Tamarin, Le Morne)

Still relatively protected from the worst of the system. Sunshine appears between clouds during the morning. One or two showers may push in late afternoon, but overall the weather remains better than on the east and south coasts.

Central Plateau (Curepipe, Vacoas)

The wettest region of the day. Overcast skies dominate, and patchy light rain persists throughout the afternoon. Temperatures remain cool at 20–22°C. Wind gusts make it feel even chillier in the hills.

Sunrise: 06:41
Sunset: 17:37
High Tides: 08:37 / 20:54
Low Tides: 02:43 / 15:10

Marine Outlook

  • Winds: Tuesday: 25–30 km/h from the east. Wednesday: 30–40 km/h, gusty at times.
  • Waves: 1.5–2.5 m Tuesday, building to 2.5–3 m Wednesday, especially along southern and eastern coasts.
  • Lagoon Conditions: Calm early Tuesday, turning choppy Wednesday. Visibility may reduce after rainfall.

Summary

Tuesday brings variable but manageable weather, with decent beach conditions in the north and west and only brief showers elsewhere. By Wednesday, wind speeds rise and showers become more frequent, especially on the east and south coasts. Water-based activities are best planned for early Tuesday or postponed until conditions ease later in the week.
