Weather forecast for Mauritius: 8th and 9th June, Sunday and Monday

The weather in Mauritius this Sunday and Monday will be largely influenced by a high-pressure system anchored in the south of the Mascarenes. Trade winds from the east to southeast will dominate both days, bringing dry, breezy conditions across most of the island. While Sunday may see some passing clouds, no significant rainfall is expected. Monday looks even more stable with plenty of sunshine, making it ideal for beach outings, hikes, and marine activities.

Waves will remain moderate to rough, especially along the east and south coasts, where they may reach up to 3 meters. The sea temperature hovers around 26.5°C. Let’s take a closer look at each region’s weather forecast.

North (Grand Baie, Pereybere, Cap Malheureux)

On Sunday, the weather in the north starts with light cloud cover but quickly clears up by mid-morning. Temperatures climb to 28°C with moderate trade winds of 22–26 km/h. The lagoon remains calm, offering excellent conditions for snorkeling and glass-bottom boat trips. By evening, skies are clear, and temperatures drop slightly to around 23°C.

Monday continues the dry weather pattern. Expect mostly sunny skies throughout the day. The weather remains stable with warm daytime temperatures and a light breeze keeping the air fresh. Visibility at sea is excellent, and it’s a good day for catamaran excursions or beachside relaxation.

Northwest (Trou aux Biches, Mont Choisy)

Sunday morning brings a few scattered clouds, but no rain is expected. The weather gradually clears, and by midday, sunshine dominates. The wind is mild and mostly from the east, averaging around 25 km/h. The beach is inviting, and sea conditions are calm nearshore.

On Monday, expect similar weather: dry, bright, and breezy. The UV index remains high, so sun protection is advised. The weather here is perfect for a quiet beach day or an outdoor lunch under the casuarina trees.

Port Louis and Surroundings

Sunday’s weather in Port Louis begins slightly hazy but warms up rapidly under clear skies. Temperatures may reach up to 30°C by early afternoon. The wind is less intense in the capital, making it feel warmer than coastal towns.

Monday will be hot and dry. With very few clouds and no rain in sight, the weather is excellent for city strolls, open-air markets, and waterfront visits. Expect some breeze by late afternoon that helps cool things down slightly.

West (Flic en Flac, Tamarin)

The west coast enjoys fine weather on both days. Sunday morning starts with gentle breezes and mild temperatures around 20°C, climbing to 28°C by midday. Clouds are minimal, and visibility remains high both on land and sea.

Monday continues the sunny weather trend. The weather in this region is ideal for hiking in the Black River Gorges or relaxing at beach resorts. Winds may pick up a little in the afternoon but remain comfortable.

Southwest (Le Morne, Baie du Cap)

Sunday’s weather in the southwest includes slightly stronger winds (up to 30 km/h) but remains dry. Kite surfers will enjoy these conditions near Le Morne. The sky remains mostly clear, with a few passing clouds that do not bring rain.

On Monday, the weather is dry and breezy, with a chance of stronger gusts near exposed areas. Temperatures reach 26–27°C, and although the sea is choppy further out, the lagoons remain safe for swimmers.

South (Bel Ombre, Surinam)

Sunday morning starts partly cloudy, especially in elevated zones. By late morning, skies begin to clear, bringing more sunshine to the region. Winds average 30 km/h, and sea conditions are rough offshore with swells reaching up to 2.8 meters.

Monday is slightly warmer and sunnier, but the weather remains windy. The sea remains unsuitable for inexperienced swimmers or small boats due to strong southern swells. Inland areas, however, enjoy dry and stable conditions.

Southeast (Mahebourg, Blue Bay)

On Sunday, expect windier weather in the southeast, with some clouds in the morning that gradually clear. The weather remains dry, and sea conditions are rough, particularly beyond the reef where swells hit 3 meters.

Monday follows the same trend: breezy and dry. The wind may reach 35–40 km/h in gusts. Beachgoers should exercise caution, but inland activities are unaffected by marine conditions.

East (Belle Mare, Trou d’Eau Douce)

Sunday’s weather begins with a few early clouds, but the sun soon takes over. Stronger trade winds sweep the coastline, making sea conditions rough outside lagoon zones. Temperatures hover around 27°C.

Monday’s weather in the east is clear, bright, and breezy. Although the sea remains agitated, the beach is pleasant, especially for sunbathing or scenic coastal walks. Wind sports enthusiasts may also enjoy the conditions.
