Weather forecast for Mauritius: 31th May 1th June, Saturday and Sunday

The weather across Mauritius is finally settling into a drier and more stable rhythm as we bid farewell to May. While Friday may start with scattered clouds and a few light drizzles, Saturday brings clearer skies and a gentle southeast breeze. The sea remains slightly rough, particularly along the east and south coasts, but wave heights are gradually decreasing.

Here’s your detailed weather guide for both days, broken down by region, so you can plan your beach days, hiking trips, or market strolls with confidence.

31 May – Mild morning drizzle, sunny spells later

The day begins with a partly cloudy sky and some passing low clouds moving in from the southeast. Some regions—especially the central plateau and south—might experience light drizzle early in the morning. By mid-morning, the weather begins to clear island-wide, with sunshine dominating from midday onwards.

Winds from the southeast will reach 25–30 km/h on average, with gusts up to 45 km/h, particularly along coastal areas. The sea remains rough on the south and east shores, with waves of 2.5 to 3 metres, while calmer seas are found in the west and north.

Sunrise: 06:36
Sunset: 17:38
High Tide: 16:50
Low Tides: 10:35 & 22:45

North (Grand Baie, Pereybere)

Mild morning with scattered clouds, followed by steady sunshine. The weather here is ideal for beachgoers, with calm lagoons and light breezes throughout the afternoon.

North-West (Mont Choisy, Trou aux Biches)

A gentle southeast wind keeps things pleasantly cool. With little cloud cover by noon, this area sees great weather for swimming, paddleboarding, and beach walks.

Port Louis and surroundings

The capital sees overcast skies early, but conditions improve by mid-morning. Gusty winds may affect waterfront areas briefly, but no rainfall is expected.

West Coast (Flic en Flac, Tamarin)

Warm and dry weather prevails, with calm waters and light winds—perfect for snorkelling, dolphin tours, or a sunset drink by the shore.

South-West (Le Morne)

Still breezy, with occasional stronger gusts and rougher seas. Surfers and kiters should remain cautious. Sunny breaks make it enjoyable later in the day.

South (Bel Ombre)

Cloudy at first, with passing drizzle. As the weather clears, the wind picks up slightly. Still not ideal for sea activities due to strong currents.

South-East (Blue Bay, Mahebourg)

Windy with rough sea conditions. While the lagoon remains somewhat protected, strong wave action beyond the reef limits sea-based activities.

East (Belle Mare, Trou d’Eau Douce)

Fresh winds and occasional afternoon cloudiness. Exercise caution near exposed areas, especially during high tide.

1 June – Sun-drenched and breezy

Saturday brings a brighter, calmer day. The weather is largely sunny across the island with only minimal early-morning clouds. Winds ease slightly but remain noticeable, particularly on the east and south coasts. Wave activity continues, but with reduced intensity.

Sunrise: 06:36
Sunset: 17:38
High Tide: 17:40
Low Tides: 11:20 & 23:30

North (Grand Baie, Pereybere)

One of the sunniest spots of the day. Excellent weather for water sports and relaxing under the coconut trees. Winds stay gentle all afternoon.

North-West (Mont Choisy, Trou aux Biches)

Clear skies and calm seas make this region ideal for snorkelling and family beach outings. The weather remains pleasant and dry.

Port Louis and surroundings

Mild and mostly sunny throughout the day, with light afternoon breezes. A good day to explore the city or head toward the waterfront.

West Coast (Flic en Flac, Tamarin)

Perfect beach weather. Light winds, calm sea, and minimal cloud cover create a postcard-worthy afternoon.

South-West (Le Morne)

Winds remain but are less aggressive. Swells are down to 2–2.5 metres, making morning surfing or kitesurfing safer but still adventurous.

South (Bel Ombre)

The day starts with a light breeze and partial cloud, but soon clears. While the sea is calmer, swimmers should still choose sheltered spots.

South-East (Blue Bay, Mahebourg)

Improving sea conditions. The weather is mostly sunny, and boat trips are back on the agenda for the adventurous.

East (Belle Mare, Trou d’Eau Douce)

Fresh but lighter winds and reduced wave height make it safer for outdoor plans. The morning may see some clouds, but no rain is expected.

Friday shows a final touch of unstable weather with a few morning showers, but overall it’s a pleasant day across the island. By Saturday, we shift fully into classic Mauritian weather: sunny, breezy, and perfect for enjoying the coastline. Just remember to keep an eye on the sea if you’re on the southern or eastern beaches.
