After several days of gusty winds and rough seas, the weather in Mauritius is finally beginning to calm. A strong anticyclone to the southeast is slowly losing its grip, allowing more sunshine, gentler breezes, and slightly warmer afternoons across much of the island. While some coasts—especially in the south and east—remain under wave advisories, the overall weather is improving.
These two days are shaping up to be perfect for those seeking sunshine and calm activities, especially on the north and west coasts where the weather will be most stable.

The morning begins cool in the central plateau with temperatures around 16°C, while the coast starts at a mild 20°C. By mid-afternoon, coastal temperatures rise to 26–27°C, with highs of 23°C in the highlands. The weather remains mostly sunny throughout the day, with some patchy clouds forming in the east and southeast after lunch. A few light showers may occur but will be brief and isolated.
Winds from the southeast continue to blow steadily, averaging 37–41 km/h, with occasional gusts up to 55 km/h. The sea remains rough, especially along the southern and eastern coasts, where wave heights can still reach 3 to 4 metres. Swimming is safest in sheltered lagoons only.
North (Grand Baie, Pereybere)
Sunny skies and mild weather make this an ideal spot for swimming, catamaran trips, or simply lounging by the beach. Calm lagoon conditions prevail.
Northwest (Mont Choisy, Trou aux Biches)
Beautiful weather continues with little wind and plenty of sunshine. Morning snorkelling and sunset walks are perfect here today.
Port Louis and Surroundings
A few morning clouds quickly give way to clear skies. Winds strengthen in the afternoon around the harbour, so boat operators should monitor weather conditions.
West (Flic en Flac, Tamarin)
Postcard-perfect weather with light breezes and warm sun. Ideal for a beach picnic or water sports in the bay.
Southwest (Le Morne)
A bit of morning mist may linger around the peak, but it clears by mid-morning. Rougher seas remain off the reefs—best left to experienced surfers.
South (Bel Ombre)
Sunny skies with strong onshore winds. While the weather is pleasant, open-sea swimming is not advised due to high waves and undertow.
Southeast (Blue Bay, Mahebourg)
Lagoon conditions are improving, though outer reef waves still reach 3.5 to 4 metres. Choose protected coves for safe bathing.
East (Belle Mare, Trou d’Eau Douce)
Windiest part of the island today. Afternoon cloud build-up may lead to a light shower. Stay within the lagoon for water activities.

Friday, May 30 – Calmer seas, scattered clouds
The cool morning returns with 16°C inland and 20°C on the coast. Afternoon temperatures climb to a comfortable 26°C under mostly sunny skies. The weather shows overall improvement, though some clouds may drift in from the southeast, bringing brief showers to the coast.
Winds ease slightly to 30–37 km/h, and the sea begins to settle. Still, caution is needed for open-sea swimming in the south and east.
