Weather forecast for Mauritius: 28th and 29th May, Wednesday and Thursday

Morning temperatures range from 15–16°C on the central plateau to 19–20°C along the coast. Daytime highs reach 26–27°C on the shores, and 22–23°C inland. The weather is mostly sunny throughout the island, though some patchy clouds may build up in the southeast and highland areas later in the day, with only a small chance of isolated showers.

Southeasterly winds remain moderate to strong—about 20 to 22 knots (37–41 km/h), with occasional gusts up to 50–55 km/h. The sea remains rough in the south and east, with wave heights between 3 and 4 metres offshore. Swimming is not recommended on these exposed coasts.

Regional Forecast – May 28

North Coast (Grand Baie, Pereybere)
Ideal beach weather—clear skies, calm lagoons, and a gentle breeze. Perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, or simply soaking up the sun.

Northwest Coast (Mont Choisy, Trou aux Biches)
Warm and sunny conditions prevail here too. The weather is excellent for water sports, and even first-time snorkellers will find conditions welcoming.

Port Louis and Surrounds
A few morning clouds will clear by mid-morning. The weather becomes brighter and breezier in the afternoon, particularly in the harbour area.

West Coast (Flic en Flac, Tamarin)
Summery weather dominates this coast. Expect light surf, warm sand, and beautiful conditions for sunset strolls or a casual BBQ near the shore.

Southwest Coast (Le Morne)
Mist may linger around the mountain in the early morning, but skies clear nicely by midday. Surf remains strong near the reef break—only experienced wave riders should enter.

South Coast (Bel Ombre)
Mildly humid in the morning with fresh breezes. The weather is otherwise sunny, though rough seas continue—stick to protected lagoons if swimming.

South Coast (Blue Bay, Mahebourg)
Clear inshore, but rough beyond the reef. Wave heights near 3.5–4 metres, though gradually calming.

East Coast (Belle Mare, Trou d’Eau Douce)
Windiest stretch of coastline, with steady 22-knot gusts. Isolated light showers possible in the afternoon. Waters remain unsafe for swimming outside lagoons.

Thursday, May 29 – Wind eases slightly, isolated light rain

Morning temperatures remain around 16°C inland, warming up to 26°C along the coast by midday. The weather is generally sunny with a few clouds over central and southeastern areas, where some short showers might develop. Winds begin to ease—down to 17–20 knots—but strong gusts still linger on exposed shores. The sea state improves slightly, but waves off the southern and eastern coastlines still reach 3 metres.

North Coast:
Favourable weather with blue skies and calm seas. Perfect for boat outings or relaxed beach days.

Northwest Coast:
Near-perfect conditions all day—warm, sunny, and minimal wind. Some of the safest weather on the island for outdoor plans.

Port Louis:
A stray morning shower may appear, but otherwise sunny and pleasant. High of 26°C by early afternoon.

West Coast:
A brilliant beach day—bright sun, clear sea, and inviting sand. The weather here is a reliable pick for families and day-trippers.

Southwest Coast:
Wind and swell decrease slightly, making it safer for experienced surfers and kiters. The weather remains warm and sunny.

South Coast (Bel Ombre):
Patchy rain early, then clearing skies. Rough sea conditions persist—watch tide times before heading out.

Blue Bay and Mahebourg:
Stable weather and calm inner lagoon waters make this region attractive for kayaking or sailing.

East Coast:
Windy but slowly calming. Light showers may return in the afternoon, though most of the day will be bright.
