The weather over the next two days in Mauritius brings a tale of two moods. Tuesday continues the wild energy we’ve seen recently — with gusty southeasterly winds and powerful swells pounding the south and east coasts. By Wednesday, though, things begin to calm: more sunshine, lighter winds, and slightly gentler seas.
Whether you’re planning a beach picnic, a hike, or just want to know where it’s safe to swim, here’s your regional guide to the changing island skies.

Sea Warning:
A heavy swell warning remains in effect for the south and east coasts until 4 p.m. Waves may reach up to 5.5 metres, so swimming and boating in these regions is strongly discouraged.
Regional Forecast – May 27
North Coast (Grand Baie, Pereybere):
Morning clouds give way to sunshine by mid-morning. Calm inside the lagoon, but expect whitecaps beyond the reef.
North-West (Mont Choisy, Trou aux Biches):
Possibly the best weather on the island today — dry, sunny, and just a gentle breeze. Great for swimming and snorkelling.
Port Louis & Surroundings:
Patchy cloud early, clearing before noon. Gusty harbour winds in the afternoon. Tie down small boats.
West Coast (Flic en Flac, Tamarin):
Warm, mostly sunny, with light winds. Excellent day for beach relaxation or a sunset cruise.
South-West (Le Morne):
Windy and cloudy, with large surf (3–4 m) hitting the reef pass. Suitable only for experienced water sports enthusiasts.
South Coast (Bel Ombre):
Brief morning showers, then dry but very windy. Swimming not advised — seas are rough.
Blue Bay, Mahebourg:
The lagoon stays fairly calm in the early morning, but wave action intensifies later, especially outside the reef.
East Coast (Belle Mare, Trou d’Eau Douce):
Harshest weather today. Expect steady 30–35 km/h winds and dangerous 5+ metre surf. Stay out of the water.
Sunrise: 06:34 Sunset: 17:38
High tide: 14:10 Low tide: 08:05 & 20:05
Wednesday, May 28 – Calmer, Sunnier, Still Breezy
Wednesday brings relief. The anticyclone weakens slightly and drifts further east, allowing the wind to ease to 18–22 km/h. The swell begins to subside — waves in the south and east drop to 3–4 metres, though still too rough for most water activities.
Morning lows are a crisp 14–15°C in the highlands, and 19–20°C on the coast. Daytime highs will reach 26–27°C, especially in western and northern areas. Expect lots of sunshine, with just a few light showers possible in the southeast late afternoon.
