The Odysseo Oceanarium is the first oceanarium in the Indian Ocean and opened in September 2021 in the Port of Port Louis. Odysseo will showcase the beauty and vulnerability of the Indian Ocean ecosystem in its 2 million litres of water tanks. It is a place where scientists will help the public to experience a unique experience.
With its motto Learn Love Protect, the oceanarium has one main objective: know how to love, love to protect. With its lively pools, Odysseo aims to showcase marine life and teach the public how to protect this ecosystem. In the giant aquariums you will find much of the surrounding reef life, including corals, stingrays, moray eels, tuna and various sharks.
Although it is a great experience to snorkel on a boat trip in Mauritius, it was still a unique sight to see the ocean life. Children will have fun colouring in different sea creatures on a piece of paper and placing them under a special scenner in a virtual aquarium where they come to life and swim.
The oceanarium is about 1.5-2 hours, depending on how much time you spend sitting relaxing and watching the sharks swim by above you. 🙂 Halfway there is a small snack bar where you can eat and drink for quite fair prices. Kids menu (fries, hamburger, drink)135 rupiah, adults can choose from a variety of food between 150-350 rupiah.
